Celebrate the Persian New Year! Nowruz means “New Day” which is celebrated on this holiday. Join us as we explore and celebrate the Persian New Year through activities, art, and storytime!
Play Purpose: Visual art and expression, self-regulation, social-emotional development, and number concepts through sorting, recognition, counting, and patterning.
Smart Art (on-going):
- Nature’s New Day > Flowers and spring fill the air during this holiday ! Today we will be creating our very own Hyacinth flowers using unique art mediums to celebrate Nowruz.
Magnificent Math & Science (3 PM) : Counting Fish > As part of Persian New Year traditions, families will display goldfish in their homes as a symbol of life. Join us as we too count on goldfish to celebrate this holiday during our goldfish counting and sorting activities.
Grown-up Tip: According to the United Nations, Persian New year promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families, as well as reconciliation and neighborliness, thus contributing to cultural diversity and friendship among peoples and different communities. Take a moment to connect with your child about the importance of their own family and community , highlighting similarities and differences.
