Developing & Discovering Multiculturalism
Developing & Discovering Multiculturalism at Pretend City Children’s Museum >>
Pretend City Children’s Museum offers young children the opportunity to explore real-world cultures through immersive play and hands-on learning. Our Developing & Discovering Program invites children to engage with cultural traditions, family life, and everyday customs from around the world right here in Orange County.
Each year, Pretend City’s Café and Home learning spaces are reimagined to highlight a different culture. In the Café, children experience pretend foods, menus inspired by authentic cuisines. In the Home, a real Orange County family “moves in,” sharing stories, traditions, and celebrations that reflect their life.
Children participate in interactive activities like cooking demonstrations, storytelling, and performances led by our cultural partners. These fun and educational experiences build empathy, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of how families live, eat, and connect in communities around the world.
By exploring cultures through play, children gain important life skills like communication, cooperation, and kindness that support healthy development at school, at home, and in the real world.
Pretend City is a welcoming destination for families, communities, and children to learn, grow, and feel at home.
