For the Medina family, Pretend City Children’s Museum is more than just a place to play—it’s a space where imagination, learning, and family connection come together in a meaningful way.
“As soon as our children stepped into Pretend City, they were completely immersed in the experience. From exploring the grocery store to pretending to be doctors, they weren’t just playing—they were learning. Seeing their joy and engagement made it clear to us that this was a place worth investing in.”
Pretend City’s mission and vision align perfectly with the goals Jimmee and her husband have for their children’s growth and development. “We love that Pretend City provides a safe space where kids can engage their curiosities and imaginations, build social emotional skills and develop self-confidence.”
Beyond the exhibits, Jimmee values the museum’s resources that help parents and caregivers to feel confident in their knowledge of developmental milestones through the Good To Go Initiative. The Good to Go Initiative educates families about the value of play, provides free health screenings and community resources. “Pretend City isn’t just about play—it’s about preparing children for the world around them. The programs cover a wide range of topics, and the support services they provide are invaluable to so many families in our community.”
For the Medinas, Pretend City is also a space for family connection. “One of the things we love most is that it’s not just a place for our kids—it’s a place for us to engage together as a family. My husband and I love to get involved in their imaginative play, and it makes for such special bonding moments.”
The Medina family believes that supporting Pretend City is not only an investment in their children’s future but in the future of all children in Orange County. “This museum is a gift to our community. It fosters creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning. We’re honored to be part of the City Lights Giving Circle and to help ensure that Pretend City continues to provide these opportunities to families for years to come.”
