Autism Night
March 24, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Thursday, March 24 | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
An opportunity for neurodivergent children and their families to enjoy The City in a whole new way – we’ll dim the lights and turn off The City Sounds. While you play and build connections, our community partners will be on hand to enrich your family’s play experience with pract ical support as needed. To help prepare, watch a video tour of our museum here .
Specifically, for: Families with children of all ages who are Neurodivergent, along with their parents, siblings, caretakers, coaches, & therapists. Pretend City will be closed to the public.
Art Studio Sessions (5 PM – 6:45 PM)
- As we “bloom” into spring, we’ll use a multitude of materials to create pictures inspired by a vase of flowers to show how we all interpret things differently.
- The sensory table will be filled with water and beads to provide a calm and soothing exploration. Feel how the water moves and try catching some beads in a cup too!
Storytime: The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear > Little Mouse loves strawberries, but so does the big hungry bear. . . How will Little Mouse stop the bear from eating his freshly picked, red ripe strawberry?
Music & Movement: The Hokey Pokey! > Sometimes we just need a little dancing in our day! Why not shake it out to this classic song that gets us moving while teaching us about body parts? Stop by Orange Circle to join Carly, our Good to Go Specialist, along with other friends, as we break out our epic dance moves!
RSVP: HERE max: 250 guests *Only guests with a reservation and a confirmation number will be admitted.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: We have a reoccurring predicament that we need your help with! Consistently, 200 guests register, but then never attend. To mitigate this, we’ve decided to open registration closer to the event’s date so parents can better gauge their ability to attend. We know that a child’s temperament, nap schedule, energy level, will and desire to play can be unpredictable – we don’t want to discourage you from signing up for that reason! We simply want to spread awareness: When you sign up knowing that you likely won’t come, you are taking the spot another neurodiverse family might use! Thank you for your consideration and kindness!
Fee: FREE for f amilies with children of all ages who are Neurodivergent, along with their parents, siblings, caretakers, coaches, & therapists . Pretend City will be closed to the public.
Grown-up Tip : Being a part of a team is a great experience to make friends and learn how to work with others, but can also be overwhelming for some children. Focusing on one skill and integrating it into your family’s routine is a great start!
