Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Ahoy Mateys! Hoist up the anchor and sail away with us as we celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day! It’ll be a swashbuckling adventure as we play pirate games, tell tales, and create pirate art! Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a Pretend City life for me!
Purpose Behind the Play: dramatic play, language and literacy, writing and imagination exploration, problem solving and gross motor practice
- Smart Art (Times Vary): Children will enjoy decorating a miniature pirate ship and creating their own pirate argh – ttire in our Art Studio throughout the day.
- Sensational Story Time (1 2 NOON & 3 PM ) : Little landlubbers get to earn their sea legs on a pirate ship amidst the goofiest pirates ever in this fun, rhyming tale. Afterwards we’ll practice some of the language that we learned by reciting some pirate phrases.
- Growing Up Great Games (12:30 PM & 3 : 30 PM ): Join us in Orange Plaza as we go on a scavenger hunt for the City looking for treasure. Children will learn about the letter X and that when looking for buried treasure, X marks the spot!
Grown-up Tip : Let’s Play Pretend! Make-believe play is critical to your child’s development and should be encouraged. Like muscles, children need daily opportunities to flex their imagination and creativity muscles. Give your child a large cardboard box and some crayons and tell them that they can make it into a pirate ship. You will be amazed at what they will create and how long this simple activity will entertain them.
