Hispanic Heritage Month

Art: Use tissue paper and cut your own papel picado, utilizing scissors to make fun patterns! Have fun using brightly colored face paint! Explore colorful ice in the shape of sugar skulls and use different tools to break them apart!
Purpose: Children will have a chance to develop their social emotional skills and also learn about cause and effect in a variety of ways. They will gain hand strength, scissor skills, and develop their fine motor skills in these fun activities.
Math/Science (TIMES 11AM & 2:30PM):
Hispanic Heritage Month is all about getting everything ready for a celebration! Today, we will explore papel picado using scissors to cut and shape out our own tissue paper to add to the city! Once we finish our papel picado we will hang them in the city and start our fiesta!
Purpose: supports independent movements of each finger, strengthens fine motor skills to support a variety of fine motor grasps, visual motor skills, visual perceptual tasks, early exposure to a variety of cultures and ideas, working together and collaborative work.
Music & Movement (directly following math/science):
Once we set the stage for our party, we will dance and enjoy traditional mariachi music! We will bring out props like fresh flowers, skirts, hats, and dancing scarves! Together we will enjoy a celebration!
Purpose: Dancing improves physical health, enhances emotional development, socialization, creativity and cognitive development.
