Trees are not only beautiful, but essential to our existence as human beings! Join us as we celebrate their importance with some tree-rific activities . 

Purpose Behind the Play: Cognition and inquiry, classification through sorting, self-regulation, and language and literacy development 

Smart Art (on-going): 

• Green & Growing > We will “grow” a community tree using recycled materials to emphasize the importance of upcycling. We’ll also look to the book Tree Spirits as a provocation to inspire little ones to see different perspectives.

Sensational Story Time in Orange Plaza (11 AM & 2:30 PM): 

• A Grand Old Tree > Once there was a grand old tree, whose roots sank deep into the earth and whose arms reached high into the sky. Every spring the grand old tree flowered and bore cherries for the squirrels and birds that made their homes in her leafy branches. And every year, seeds from the tree scattered in the wind, along with many millions of leaves. Mary Newell DePalma creates an emotional tale of life and renewal, of nature’s bounty and quiet balance, illustrated with simple images made powerful with vivid colors and moving compositions.

Grown-up Tip: Plant a tree with your child! The long-term benefits of this simple activity are phenomenal! Trees help cool your neighborhood, provide food and remove harmful pollutants from the ozone. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, just one mature tree can produce 260 pounds of oxygen and trap 35-800 pounds of carbon dioxide each year!
